Lygia Pires…

…is Graphic Designer and works with Lettering, Calligraphy and Illustration. She develops commercial and personal works. She’s  graduated in “Fashion Design” at Santa Marcelina College, “Graphic Design and Motion Graphics” at Panamericana School of Art and Design and “Drawing” and “Illustration” at Quanta Art Academy. Lygia has been studying for 9 years calligraphy and lettering with Brazilian renowned teachers such as Andrea Branco, Cláudio Gil, Cláudio Rocha and Marcos Mello, Jackson Alves, Marina Chaccur, Yomar Augusto, Caetano Calomino, Cris Pagnoncelli, Victor Tognollo, Christopher Hammerschmidt and foreign teachers such as John Stevens (USA), Julian Waters (USA), Luca Barcellona (Italy), Martina Flor (Germany/Argentina), Joana Correa (Portugal), Yani & Guille (Argentina), Sílvia Cordero Vega (Argentina), Maximiliano Sproviero (Argentina) and Sabrina Lopez (Argentina).

She has 15 years of experience in the Fashion and Surface Design, worked initially as a Fashion Designer and later focused her career as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, producing clothes prints for commercial and SPFW collections (São Paulo Fashion Week) of famous Brazilian brands. Currently, Lygia embraced her passion for art and design, and works as a freelancer in her studio, producing calligraphy, lettering, illustration and design works, given from the final customer and new entrepreneurs to big magazines, national and international companies such as Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc, Budweiser, Samsung / Vivo, Puma, Le Cordon Bleu, Portuguese Language Museum, Skoll / Lollapalooza, Natura / Claudia Award, Intimus / Glamour Award, Instagram, Estadão, Bradesco, Sadia, Playboy, VO2bike, O2, Koleston, Cavalera, Colcci and Lost. She teaches calligraphy and lettering in several cities in Brazil such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Porto Alegre e Brasília. In 2019 and in 2020, she had works published in the Australian book Typism. In 2020 received the Communication Arts Typography 2020 Excellence Award and the Type Director Club New York (TDC 66) Certificate of Typographic Excellence.

É formada em Desenho de Moda pela Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Design Gráfico e Motion Graphics pela Escola Panamericana de Arte e Design e em Desenho e Ilustração na Quanta Academia de Artes. Há 9 anos estuda caligrafia e lettering e já teve aulas com professores renomados brasileiros como Andrea Branco, Cláudio Gil, Cláudio Rocha and Marcos Mello, Jackson Alves, Marina Chaccur, Yomar Augusto, Caetano Calomino, Cris Pagnoncelli, Victor Tognollo, Christopher Hammerschmidt e professores estrangeiros como John Stevens (EUA), Julian Waters (EUA), Luca Barcellona (Itália), Martina Flor (Alemanha/Argentina), Joana Correa (Portugal), Yani & Guille (Argentina), Sílvia Cordero Vega (Argentina), Maximiliano Sproviero (Argentina) e Sabrina Lopez (Argentina).

Tem 15 anos de experiência em Moda e Estamparia, e trabalhou inicialmente como Estilista e posteriormente focou sua carreira como Designer e Ilustradora produzindo estampas para coleções comerciais e para desfiles da SPFW de grandes marcas brasileiras. Atualmente, abraçou sua paixão pela Arte e Design, e atua como freelancer em seu estúdio, produzindo trabalhos de caligrafia, lettering, ilustração e design, atendendo desde o cliente final e novos empreendedores, até grandes revistas e empresas nacionais e internacionais como Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc, Budweiser, Samsung/Vivo, Puma, Le Cordon Bleu, Museu da Língua Portuguesa, Skoll/Lollapalloza, Natura/Prêmio Cláudia, Íntimus/Prêmio Glamour, Instagram, Estadão,Bradesco, Sadia, Playboy, VO2bike, O2, Koleston, Cavalera, Colcci e Lost. Leciona caligrafia e lettering em diversas cidades do Brasil como SP, RJ, CWB, POA e BSB, além de atuar como oficineira no Sesc. Em 2019e em 2020 teve trabalhos publicados no livro australiano Typism. Em 2020, recebeu o Prêmio de Excelência da Communication Arts Typography 2020. e o Certificado de Excelência Tipográfica do Type Director Club de Nova York (TDC66).
